Headteacher’s Welcome
Welcome to Boston High School’s website!
As Headteacher of Boston High School, I am delighted to welcome you to explore our school website, which demonstrates the many strengths of our school community. It is a privilege to work alongside our dedicated staff, supporting and guiding our ambitious students and their families. Together, we share a commitment to excellence and a belief that education should inspire curiosity, nurture talent, and empower every student to achieve their full potential.
For students aged 11–16, we are a selective girls’ grammar school. For students aged 16–18, we offer a mixed Sixth Form with a comprehensive intake, welcoming students from a wide range of backgrounds
Our vision for Boston High School is to be a school of excellence where every student achieves their potential, embraces diversity, thrives academically and personally and contributes positively to society. This vision is underpinned by our school motto:
Non nobis solum, meaning not for ourselves alone, and now Leading, Learning, Together
LEADING: Leading as individuals and as a community helps you grow in confidence, resilience, and character. Skills that allow you to thrive in school and life.
LEARNING: Learning is at the heart of success. By working hard and aiming high, you can achieve your ambitions and reach your full potential.
TOGETHER: Supporting one another creates an inclusive, caring environment where everyone feels they belong and is valued as part of the school community.
Our core values of commitment, opportunity, discipline and excellence, guide all that we do, ensuring exceptional high standards for learning, attendance, behaviour and personal development. These values guide everything at Boston High School.
Commitment Opportunity Discipline Excellence
Commitment: to our school, ambitions, achievement, progress, and to each other, as well as to our wider responsibilities locally, nationally, and globally.
Opportunity: a determination to embrace opportunities and strive to be the best we can be.
Discipline: recognising that a focused and disciplined attitude is essential to achieve and give our best.
Excellence: aiming for the highest standards in all we do and contributing fully to society.
These values guide everything at Boston High School. We go beyond academic success, and ensure our students are prepared for the world of work in the 21st century. The behaviours we expect to see within our CODE daily are the foundation for our students; they enable them to be ready for school, ready for work, and ready for life too.
We are incredibly proud of our safe, inclusive, supportive and thriving school community, where every single member feels valued. Our school celebrates diversity, embraces collaboration, where students feel a sense of belonging and can thrive, both academically and personally. Ofsted (July 2024) praised our “inclusive and welcoming ethos” and noted that “students say they feel safe in this popular school” and “behave and attend well. They are friendly and polite.”
Students, current and past, achieve highly studying at Boston High School. We deliver an ambitious, coherent and broad and curriculum, which Ofsted described as “well thought out and complemented by a range of extra-curricular activities and visits.” It is carefully designed to meet the needs of all learners and prepare them for success in education, employment, and life in modern Britain.
Qualifications are the key to unlocking our students’ future success. We are proud of the fantastic results they achieve. Year after year, our A-Level and GCSE outcomes are consistently strong, helping students open doors to new opportunities and turn their aspirations into reality.
Our curriculum is:
Broad, Balanced and Ambitious
Our curriculum provides depth and breadth across all subjects, building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and oracy. It remains broad through Key Stage 3 and then offers opportunities for specialism and choice at Key Stages 4 and 5.
Sequenced and Inclusive
Learning is structured to build knowledge progressively over time, ensuring students revisit and deepen understanding. We maintain high expectations for all our students, including our students with SEND or disadvantaged students, so that everyone can access and thrive within the curriculum.
Personal Development and British Values
Through PSHE, enrichment, and wider experiences, we promote students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. Our provision supports health, well-being, resilience, and character, whilst preparing students to be responsible, respectful, and active citizens who contribute positively to society.
Preparation for Life and Work
We equip students with essential knowledge and skills for future opportunities and responsibilities. Careers education, impartial guidance, and encounters with the world of work are embedded throughout student’s time at school, ensuring readiness for the next stage of education or employment. We are incredibly proud of our careers provision.
Beyond the Classroom
We offer a rich and varied programme of enrichment and extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, music, STEM, drama, dance, and cultural experiences. Trips, residentials, and leadership opportunities help students develop confidence, independence, alongside a love of learning.
Alongside our curriculum, the diversity of extracurricular activities and educational trips ensure our students are well-rounded, prepared for future challenges, and equipped with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to succeed both academically and in life. With a sustained focus on personal growth and achievement, where every student can thrive, pursue their interests, and develop a strong foundation for the future.
