Year 10 and Year 11

In the first half of Year 9 an options ‘straw poll’ takes place so that pupils are able to express their likely intentions prior to the final options process. The options process itself begins in Term 3 of Year 9 with a Careers input before the Options Evening. Pupils are allowed free choice in their options within the English Baccalaureate. Option blocks are designed based on their option choices.

In Year 10 and Year 11 pupils follow a core curriculum including 3 sciences and are then given 4 option choices, at least one of which must be part of the English Baccalaureate. Any students identified during Year 10 as struggling with the 3 single sciences will transfer to the Combined Science route. Philosophy, Religion and Ethics along with Computing are taught as core components to the Curriculum as well as being offered as full GCSE options. Pupils also have one lesson per fortnight for Supervised Revision.
