When can I use the Library?  

Opening times will be Monday to Friday 8.30 – 4.00pm, open all day including break and lunch.
Sixth Formers are free to use the library at anytime during free study periods. There are selected timetabled sessions were sixth formers have priority use. If a class has been booked in you will not be able to study here during that time. Please check the booking sheet on the library doors before entering.

What does the Library have to offer me?

The library is a service, not just a place to be. You can use the library to sit and do your homework, research or to sit and read quietly.

Facilities include:

How do I borrow books?

Borrowing books could not be easier, we have an automated system called Eclipse, and this will allow you to borrow up to 5 resources for 2 weeks.
Please note the following:

1. All books must be issued through the computer by the Librarian on duty.
2. Please return all books to the librarian’s desk or trolley, do not put them on the shelves.
3. If you are sent a reminder to return you books, please act on this immediately.

What are the Library rules?

1. Do not eat or drink, except for bottled water
2. Treat books and furniture with respect
3. Do not use tippex or ink pens
4. Bags are not allowed in the Library, remember to leave them in your lockers, except for sixth form
5. A quiet atmosphere must be maintained
6. School computer rules apply
7. Please keep shelves tidy

Photocopying - rules and guidelines

1. The Librarian must do all copying
2. Any library resource is free of charge
3. All non-library photocopying will be charged at 10p per A4 sheet or 20p for colour
4. The correct change must be given

Can I access the school network and internet?

The Library has 20 wireless laptops available to use all day, these laptops have to be booked out through the librarian during use.

Using the laptops you will be able to access all your school work on the network and use the internet freely.

ICT Rules

1. Internet use MUST be school work only
2. Non-school work will result in a ban from the system
3. No games to be played
4. Inappropriate use of e-mail not allowed
5. Use of network is monitored
