Sixth Form Overview
An overview of BHS Sixth Form:
We have a range of subjects available, a total of 21. These courses are either A Level or BTEC. All of the subjects available can be found in the Sixth Form prospectus (on the website), which has course entry requirements in too.
Year 12 and Year 13 students have 9 hours over a fortnight of teaching time in each subject.
Year 12 students also have 9 hours over a fortnight of Supervised Study.
During ‘private study’ lessons, students are expected to use this time to continue with their studies outside of lessons.
In Year 12, students are expected to attend Form Time in the mornings, with their Form Tutor. In the Sixth Form, we have a dedicated team of 5 Sixth Form Tutors who will lead Year 12 students through their first year of A Level/BTEC studies.
In Year 13, students attend morning registration with members of the Sixth Form Team: Mrs Brunsden and Mrs Wise.
Enrichment takes place in Year 12 only. These lessons take place twice a fortnight; they are either self-directed by students or external visitors will deliver information to students as a year group.
Self-directed options for Enrichment include: work experience, MOOCs, IFS or Pre Teach Course.
External visitors are invited to school, to discuss and share information with students for a variety of reasons, including University preparation, Student Finance, Contraception options or Volunteering.
Our Enrichment booklet is available on the website.
