Year 10 and Year 11

In the first half of Year 9 an options ‘straw poll’ takes place so that pupils are able to express their likely intentions prior to the final options process. The options process itself begins in Term 3 of Year 9 with a Careers input before the Options Evening. Pupils are allowed free choice in their options within the English Baccalaureate. Option blocks are designed based on their option choices.

In Year 10 and Year 11 pupils follow a core curriculum including 3 single sciences, one humanity and one language but are then given 2 further option choices. The options could include the alternative humanity and / or language. Any pupils identified during Year 10 as struggling with the 3 single sciences will transfer to the Combined Science route. A number of pupils identified for educational reasons are given the option of not studying a language with gained time either given to an alternative GCSE or supported core subject study. RS and Computing are taught as core components to the Curriculum as well as being offered as full GCSE options.
